Update June 29, 2020
Maimonides Cemetery and its care team remain committed to providing service to our customers requiring Jewish burials. We are answering calls and responding to messages 24/7. Our Elmont and Brooklyn visiting hours have temporarily been adjusted. Please see below.
Maimonides Cemetery has available plots. Purchase by appointment. Call 516 775 6222 for information. We will meet you outside, at the cemetery and show you some options based on your wishes. We can take care of most arrangements and grave purchases with minimal contact.
Maimonides Cemetery is very concerned about the health and safety of our families, employees, friends, and fellow
New Yorkers. We continue to follow all health, hygiene, and safety guidelines and we will update procedures as they evolve. Therefore as of June 29, 2020, a maximum of 20 healthy people with facemasks who are prepared to follow distancing protocols may attend a burial service. Facemasks are required in New York and at the cemetery.
We are currently open for limited visitors. All public health guidelines must be adhered to by visitors including maintaining 6 feet distance, mandatory face coverings, and no contact outside of household members. The office remains closed to walk-ins. We recommend you call and schedule an appointment if you need to see us. Please call us at 516 775 6222.
We appreciate your understanding in the scheduling of all burials and events as we cope with the reality of the health restrictions. We are accepting orders for grave openings from funeral directors. We will arrange for a mutually agreeable time. Please understand that our usual Spring landscaping is ongoing and we have resumed a vigorous effort to meet your care needs. These ongoing activities may be impacted by the demand for burials and health and safety concerns. If you need to place your lot in care or make planting arrangements, please call us to discuss your options at 516.775.6222. If you haven't paid your annual care bill, please do so immediately or call us to discuss your options.
Please call before visiting and remain flexible as we all cope with the current health situation.
If the cemetery needs to close, we will continue to update this website and answer phone calls. We thank you for your patience and cooperation.
It is our hope that you and your family stay safe and healthy as we move through this Summer and beyond.
Maimonides Cemetery encourages visitors to be aware of local weather when coming to the cemetery. Occasionally.the cemetery will limit visitor access or close the cemetery when conditions are hazardous for the visitor or the graves
